Your Home Inspector for life
Why hire just any Home Inspector when you can hire a Master CREIA Inspector
This Home Fire Safety Checklist was developed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)

The United States has one of the highest fire death and injury rates in the world. Fire -- in the form of flames and smoke -- is the second leading cause of accidental death in the home.

More than 4,000 people die each year in home fires. Every year, there are more than 500,000 residential fires serious enough to be reported to fire departments. More than 90 percent of residential fire deaths and injuries result from fires in one and two family houses and apartments. Property losses exceed 4 billion dollars annually, and the long term emotional damage to victims and their loved ones is incalculable.

Why Should My Home Have Smoke Alarms?

As a former Sacramento area fire fighter I Know first hand that smoke detectors save lives.  They are most likely the cheapest and most effective life saving device that you can buy for your home.  Having completed over 5,900 Home Inspections in the Sacramento, Elk Grove, El dorado Hills, Folsom, and Roseville areas a Smoke alarm is always listed as a Safety Upgrade for all bedrooms and hallways.

In the event of a fire, a smoke alarm can save your life and those of your loved ones. They are a very important means of preventing house and apartment fire fatalities by providing an early warning signal -- so you and your family can escape. Smoke alarms are one of the best safety devices you can buy and install to protect yourself, your family, and your home.

Exposing an Invisible Killer: The Dangers of Carbon Monoxide

Each year in America, unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning claims more than 400 lives and sends another 20,000 people to hospital emergency rooms for treatment.  On one Sacramento Home Inspection I called the heater to be shut down and evaluated by an Heating and Air Contractor because I believed it to be leaking Carbon Monoxide.  It was found to be a defective heater but more than that I found out that the previous owner had passed away in that house. I can not help but wonder if a $30- carbon monoxide detector would have saved her.
